Tomorrow Cantabile Review

by ecs707a

Hi everyone!  I’ve never written anything for the blog before, but I had some things to say about Tomorrow Cantabile, so here I am!

First, let’s start with a little background on me as a drama watcher.  Let’s just put this out there.  I am generally not a rom-com watcher.  I am not the target audience for anything billed as “romantic comedy” or even “romance”, for that matter.   For whatever reason, I’m generally pretty immune to “romance” in general, so if a story is primarily a romantic one, there had better be some other stuff going on to keep my interest.   The most important factor in my enjoyment of a drama (or movie, or book) is how I feel about the characters.  There has to be at least one that I connect with on some level, and preferably there will be more than one.  Fortunately, this drama is brimming with relatable, likeable characters.  Tomorrow Cantabile is a romance, lack of kiss notwithstanding, but there’s plenty to like despite that. *ducks tomatoes*

Going into this drama with a modest amount of familiarity with the source material and adaptations (watched the jdrama, but only the main series; read a random volume of the manga (vol. 2, lessons 7-12); watched exactly one episode of the anime), I was excited to see what this version would have to offer (other than the obvious *ahem*).

A Tale of Two Cantabiles

by mrdimples

I am the only one out of the 3 reviewers who has watched Nodame Cantabile Live Adaptation (J version/J drama) so I was saddled with the unenviable task of writing this review with reference to the J drama. I have never written a drama summary review like this before but then again, following Tomorrow Cantabile was one unforgettable experience.

Tomorrow Cantabile Ep 15 & 16 Review

by farbarri

It’s the end… I don’t want it to ever end, but it has to. There are so many things to wrap up. I love every single moment of the drama, though it is not without its flaws. I kept trying to choose which are my favourite episodes, but I ended up choosing it all. I tried to choose favourite moments too, but I just love them all, apart from the office politics.

Tomorrow Cantabile Review – Episodes 13 & 14

by farbarri

This week’s episodes are probably two of the best episodes! Erm, I like all the episodes, so… Anyway, episode 14 remains one of my most favourite! Joowon shows what a great actor he can be with his gazillion face expression, and Shim Eunkyung just made me fall in love with her awesome acting ability.

This week, it is quite hard for me to separate Yoojin and Naeil’s parts. Both of them are deeply conjoined in the storyline and each other’s growth that to speak of Yoojin will be to speak of Naeil too.

Tomorrow Cantabile – Episode 10 Full Characters Review

by farbarri

What an emotional roller-coaster ride this week! Some of our characters separate, some other conjoined, and friendship and love continues to blossom. I have so much feels watching this week’s episodes for I love every single moment of it, apart from Chairwoman’s scenes, though they’re necessary. Now that we’re halfway through, we’re getting more focus on Naeil. I still hadn’t gotten enough of Yoojin’s inner emotion, but I want to see Naeils’s inner struggles too.

I’ve been thinking about this… What is the purpose of a blind audition if the judge knows who is auditioning? Why does the drama deviate in terms of song choices? My thoughts are as mentioned as we proceed with character reviews.

Tomorrow Cantabile – Main Character Review Episode 9

by farbarri

What an awesome episode! Everything that I envision for this drama doesn’t happen and go the way I wanted. It gets better instead. I don’t see much of the typical k-drama clichés, apart from hand grabbing (the teachers do it too!), instead I get something refreshing in the plot that I didn’t expect to happen. These surprises carry such high meaning to each character for it impacts them emotionally in their growth. This is an upside to not watching the previous projects before~

Yoojin & Naeil

In the beginning, we see Yoojin trying to talk to an upset Naeil. She’s at her lowest moment and she turns to Yoojin, her best source of comfort only to find that that comfort prickles her sharply instead.

Tomorrow Cantabile 내일도 칸타빌레 Ep 5 & 6 Review

Ep 5

2014-10-30_11h35_58

You know a show got your heart when you wear this silly big grin on your face in front of your screen; when you stand on your feet and fist pump; when you doubled up in laughter falling off the chair.

While I enjoyed the first four episodes a lot, this week’s episodes made me fall in love with the drama.

Tomorrow Cantabile 내일도 칸타빌레 Review Ep 3 & 4 – A Fresh Perspective

Just when I thought things could not get any better, it did. I got a major realization mode as I watch this week’s episodes 3 and 4. Stakes are higher, pride is challenged, friendship develops and love unknowingly grows.

We are still in the midst of character development, most of which involves Cha Yoojin. I see some growth in Ilrak too. We are introduced to more side characters and I’m really interested in them as much as I’m interested in Yoojin and Naeil.

Side-characters

I really love Ma Soo Min, Ilrak and mini Minhee. Together, they’re all like the High 5 members. So loud and hilarious! Naeil and Ilrak are close enough to work together in finding her bully culprit, but then they all just get close to each other, though Naeil and Soo Min still bickers. I love the relationship between Naeil and Ilrak. They’re in their own delusional world which is why they get along well from the get-go. This week we see Ilrak finds himself another challenge in Shi Won and because of this, he acknowledges that he needs more help to play better.

Tomorrow Cantabile 내일도 칸타빌레Week 1 Review

by farbarri@joowoncutie

Hai everyone! This is my first time writing a review for a drama. Thanks to Joowon Cutie for giving me the chance to write essays every week. My insights are more towards technical stuff, namely the acting, editing, filming and music aspects. Having had (some) experience in all these aspects, I will be as objective as I can. This review will be slightly long, but the next review will definitely be shorter as I don’t need to mention a lot of the things mentioned in this review.
